The lake water was gorgeous today, this 16th of June.
The park hasn’t officially opened for the season yet, so we were lucky enough to have the whole place to ourselves.
Of course, it’s still kind of early in the season for most people to go swimming – July and August bring on the warmer lake water temps that are preferred by most.
But we enjoy the peace and sometimes Mother Nature gives us special gifts when there is no one else around.
Today was one of those times.
We usually tread water after our more strenuous swim before we get out of the water.
A movement over my right shoulder caught my attention.
Between us and the shore, two beautiful loons popped up out of the water.
They kept poking their heads under the water line – searching for fish.
They were not the least bit bothered by us.
One dove down under while the other continued to swim above.
It finally came up quite a distance away, and the other went to join him.
I’ve been swimming when a loon popped up right beside many years ago, and I thought that was so great.
But when two loons appear – you can’t beat that!
